Ambito.com

Ámbito.com is the news website of economic newspaper Ámbito Financiero, created in 1976 by Julio Ramos. Since 2015, it belongs to Grupo Indalo, owned by Cristóbal López and Fabián De Sousa.
Ámbito Financiero was born in the first year of Argentina’s last dictatorship as the voice of the country’s financial establishment and as a reference for stock market investors. Over that period of time, the newspaper advocated for the financial reform and economic liberalization process promoted by the then Minister of Economy José Alfredo Martínez de Hoz. With the return of democracy, Roberto García began to work as Editor-In-Chief, adding political content to the newspaper. He made the newspaper one of the most influential papers in the country in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Its news portal was created in 2000. It features current political and economic information with a focus on financial content. It is the eighth most visited news website in Argentina according to SimilarWeb (October 2018) and the seventh most popular site according to Alexa.
Nefir S.A., the corporation that controls the news portal, and Editorial Amfim S.A., the publishing house that prints the newspaper, are undergoing insolvency procedures as part of the case that investigates Grupo Indalo’s shareholders for tax evasion.
