In 1995 La Nacion was the first national circulation newspaper in launching a news portal, a year before Clarín and some months after Los Andes, the first paper with a news portal in Argentina.
Today La Nacion is a digital newspaper with 24/7 updates and a considerable amount of audiovisual content, which is created by the group’s digital TV channel, La Nacion +. Its web articles are written by the newspaper’s editorial staff, including journalists, designers, visualizers, programmers and specialists in data journalism and transmedia techniques.
With 0.69% of digital audience, it is the third most visited news portal after Clarin.com and Infobae, according to Alexa and SimilarWeb.
In 2017, like its main competitor, Clarin.com, La Nacion news portal decided to charge for its digital content by establishing a porous paid news system, which allows readers to access up to 40 monthly articles for free. It currently has 82,000 subscribers, with many of them coming from its loyalty card program.
