The news channel leads the charts for paid content TV in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. In 2018 it was only outperformed by TN, which is part of Grupo Clarín.
Since it became part of Grupo Indalo (2012), C5N has attracted the audience segment eager for content that criticizes Mauricio Macri’s administration. Its main star is host Víctor Hugo Morales, one of the most iconic football comentators and a strong defender of the policies implemented by former Presidents Néstor and Cristina Fernández.
Telepiu S.A. (C5N) has been undergoing insolvency proceedings since March 2018, when Oil Combustibles S.A. (an oil company from Grupo Indalo that is the channel’s controlling shareholder) filed for bankruptcy and its partners were prosecuted for tax evasion and sent to prison. The company has a monthly deficit of around $40 million (as of September 2018), according to a report by Telepiu’s Audit Committee.

He is one of the most important media business people in Argentina. In 1998, supported by Carlos Menem’s administration, he went from TV host to owner of Radio 10, a radio station that led audience ratings until it was sold in 2012. This radio station was bought by Cristóbal López, a businessman closely related to the Kirchner family. The deal included other companies from Grupo Hadad, including three FM radio stations and news channel C5N. Hadad owns Infobae, one of the most visited news websites in Argentina.
