He was the owner of Canal 11 and of the popular publishing house Editorial Sarmiento in 1970. He was the creator of a unique journalistic style with a distinct aesthetics, which helped rank his media among the most popular in Argentina. In 2005 he spent seven months in prison for tax evasion. That same year, he sold newspaper Crónica and publishing house Editorial Sarmiento to Grupo Olmos. In 2011 he was tried for tax evasion and sold 51 % of Crónica TV to the same holding. He was acquitted a year later.
