FM Metro
The radio station is one of the first radio stations in Buenos Aires. In the past, AM radios used FM to retransmit their content. That was Radio Del Plata’ strategy.
The brand “Metro” and its aesthetics were born in 1997. Before its launching, the frequency was used by radio Z95. The license holder is Radiodifusora Metro S.A., owned by the Moneta family. Until 2018, it belonged to a group made up of three radio stations, including Radio Belgrano (AM 950) and FM Blue (100.7), though these last two stations were later sold.
In the 1990s, the radio was owned by Eduardo Eurnekian and his Grupo América. In the 2000s, it belonged to one of the largest multi-radio groups in Argentina: the Mexican Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE, or Inter-American Corporation of Entertainment). In 2010 some of the CIE radios were purchased by Raúl Moneta: Metro, Rock and Pop, Belgrano, Splendid and Blue.
The radio has gradually lost its audience in recent years. In 2017 it was the fifth most popular FM radio in Buenos Aires.
Metro has a programming that features historically successful programs (the oldest are over 15 years old) aimed at informing and entertaining a young audience (20–45 years old), while playing pop and electronic music. The radio station hosts tend to be men between 30 and 45 years old.
