Pagina12.com.ar
Pagina12.com.ar is a news portal featuring domestic political and economic information. The website is free, and its editorial line opposes Mauricio Macri’s administration.
It belongs to Editorial La Página S.A., founded in 1987 and purchased by Grupo Octubre in 2016. Jorge Prim and Hugo Sorian, members of the newspaper’s board of directors, are minority shareholders of the company.
Until 2016, the website replicated almost entirely the articles that appeared on the print edition and had almost no presence on social media. After the newspaper’s sale to Grupo Octubre and the arrival of Mariano Blejman as Digital Editor-In-Chief, Página created a web editorial team, which is currently led by Santiago Rodríguez.
“The newspaper decided to rebuild its digital presence with the aim of transforming what was a digital edition of the print version into a true website, which communicates news and perspectives 24/7,” newspaper authorities said, while highlighting that the site saw a 111% increase in unique visitors between 2016 and 2018. In 2018 it was ranked fifth (according to Alexa)n and ninth (according to SimilarWeb) among the most popular news websites in Argentina.
