Grupo Televisión Litoral
It is the only locally-owned media group in the city of Rosario. Its flagship company is Canal Tres, the second most viewed TV channel in the city. Canal 3 mainly repeats Canal 13’s (Grupo Clarín) content, except for news bulletins, which are locally produced.
The most popular radio stations in the city, Radio 2 AM 1230 and FM Vida 97.9, news portal Rosario3.com and FM Frecuencia Plus are also part of the holding.
Its controlling shareholders are Josefina Daminato and Gustavo Scaglione, a prominent married couple of businesspeople who purchased 55% of the stock in 2015 from Alberto Gollán, the group’s founder and original owner. The name Daminato is a trademark among Rosario’s business community, but the family has always kept a low profile. Currently, its main companies are Daminato Sociedad de Bolsa S.A. and Daminato Viajes y Cambio S.A., both managed by Josefina and founded by her father.
After Televisión Litoral was sold, there was speculation based on the close relationship between the purchasers (as well as the operation’s broker Marcelo Fernández) and Fundación Libertad, a neoliberal think tank that gathers the most prominent businesspeople from Rosario and nearby areas, as well as influential people from Rosario’s Stock Exchange and the region’s oilseed industrial sector. Fundación Libertad openly supported PRO, the political party led by President Mauricio Macri. Speculation increased as the President showed preference for the group’s media when visiting Rosario.
